Dr. Clitterhouse enters Hotel Sequin |
| Description: |
Dark chords as we see the name of a hotel; Dr. Clitterhouse's theme is heard as he enters the room, played mysteriously on the alto flute over slow, sustained dissonance; the doctor's theme occurs throughout as light underscoring |

| Analysis: |
The version of The Amazing Doctor theme heard here is "Form A" - it begins with two small arch gestures <+2,-1, -1> and <+3, -1, -1> then continues down chromatically to end a half step lower than it begins; Form A is often followed by a "tail" gesture in the lower voices (heard throughout this cue); a chromatic contrasting idea appears in measure 10, separating the first two statements of the theme (on D and F), from the last two (on A and on G); the theme is harmonized with tense sonorities - usually half-diminished sevenths over a dissonant pedal |
