much faster tempo version of I Got Rhythm [onscreen at 1:54: "The Orchestra" with a short clip of Steiner conducting the studio orchestra! Steiner is standing on a triangular elevated platform. He is conducting vigorously but not looking at a score - there is no stand to hold one. The orchestra is fairly small. We see a sound man operating the boom mike in the foreground, a row of saxophonists, a flutes, a cellist, some violinist, a pianist, a drummer, a percussionist, two trumpeters, and huge silhouettes of the double bass player and tuba player on the wall. The tempo Steiner is conducting in matches the tempo of the title music, but the actions of the players indicate that they are NOT playing the same music. (I wondered if they were just moving their arms randomly--look at the drummer--to pretend like they were playing something, but the violins, at least, are using uniform bowing in the same rhythms as one another.]
