as the attack begins, a galloping rhythm startsin the music, over which a three note chromatic gesture is repeated in ascending sequence (in 1933 this becomes the Kong motive), echoed by a shrieking effect on the violins; onscreen there is a montage of war imagery ["Battle Music" in cue sheet—Steiner original]; at 0:01:47 a strong new brass melody is introduced; at 0:02:01 bugle fanfares are layered on top of battle sounds and the galloping music; it does not appear that the changes in the music are coordinated specificaly with images in the war montage—there may be some quotations which I did not catch, however |
